Hektoen Enteric Agar

Usages:
For selective separation of enteric pathogens.
 
Principle:
Peptone, beef extract powder provides carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals; lactose, sucrose and salicin to fermentable sugars; bile salts, sodium deoxycholate, bromothymol blue and acidic fuchsin suppression gram-positive bacteria; sodium chloride to maintain osmotic equilibrium; sodium thiosulfate and ferric ammonium citrate for the detection of hydrogen sulfide, so that the centre of black colonies; agar is medium coagulant; bromothymol blue and acid fuchsin as pH indicator.

How to use?
1. Suspend 72.7g in 1 L of distilled water, stirring heated to boiling and pour into sterile plates. Do not autoclave this medium.
2. Diluted and treated samples.

Storage: Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
